I was reading an article on ChuckOliver.net ( http://dev.chuckoliver.net/2012/09/i-answer-the-1-million-question-is-fsu-back/ ) about FSU’s chances this season, and how they’re looking. I certainly hope he’s right, because I am concerned about the weak schedule FSU has for the regular season. Yeah, it’s fun to watch them blow out another team, but only when you know the other guy should do better. Watching them smear an inferior team is a bit like watching a bully on the playground. I have FSU football tickets for this season and I want to enjoy them. Go ‘Noles, don’t let us down!
After what Kentucky has done in the basketball arena, it won’t come as a shock to me of Kentucky basketball tickets get a lot more expensive next year. Question is, how is the football team doing? They live in relative obscurity in one of the toughest conferences in the country. Wouldn’t it be neat if, say, the Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats game saw an upset and the Wildcats won it. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Gators beaten soundly anyway, being a guy with Seminole football tickets every year.
West Virginia has always fascinated me, because I’m never sure what to expect from them. They’ve moved to the Big 12 so this season will be telling if they can take it. I have more hopes for Clemson in the ACC. They’ve already beaten Auburn, which isn’t a small task and the Ball State Cardinals which wasn’t such a challenge, I think. I see Tigers football tickets being bigger sellers towards the end of the season if they go like they did last year. Let’s just hope they don’t choke.
I dunno. The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am in whoever put together the FSU regular season schedule. I mean, really? The Murray State Racers? The Savannah State Tigers? I really hope they don’t fold against somebody like Wake Forest. I’ll have to sell my Seminole football tickets at that point.
The college football season has started. South Carolina beat Vanderbilt, barely. Clemson bested Auburn in the battle of the Tigers. FSU beat Akron (Akron, really?) Already there’s talk of FSU going undefeated in the regular season. Hrm.
I’m looking at the UNC football schedule this season. They easily crushed their opening opponent, Elon Phoenix 62-0. I think the NC State football schedule is of interest too. They lost to Tennessee, but the next few games will be interesting. I expect Florida State and Clemson to beat them, but you never know. That’s what makes football fun!
I keep coming back to the notion of the Roman Empire having 230 days per year of bread and circuses. Rather violent pastime, if you think about it. That being said, we do like our pastimes. Theaterblogging is a good theater blogging site (go figure) for a realistic take on Broadway and travelling productions. Sports and Stuff is exactly what it says: Sports and Stuff. It’s a good general sports blog, with more than just football. Go enjoy some circus with your bread!
For some reason, as I was writing the title, all I could think of was how it would sound if Christopher Walken said it. Like “Wow! (long pause) Man!” Strange, that.
What prompted this was the fact that I ran across some blogs that are really interesting that have primarily to do with sports, but a couple of them have to do with theater, which I do enjoy. Theater Blogger is a great theater review site, with an every-man approach. Sports and Crap is a funny sports blog, and Throw Me the Ball is written with the nostalgic fan in mind. There’s lots of good stuff out there!
